ART AND CREATION

Creation, Transmission and Dissemination

A program of creative residences

The Creative Residences Program aims to promote artistic creation in relation to nature and living.

The MAM Foundation welcomes creators and creators in residence at the Fabrique de Suza. These residences encourage experimentation and sharing with residents·are from Grand Suza. They offer artists a unique framework for questioning the place of nature and living in their creative process and for exploring new forms of creation inspired by the territory of Grand Suza, its founding myths and its history.

The works created during the residences are most often installed in the public space within the village of Grand Suza or at the MAM Gallery in Douala.

An engraving workshop

The MAM Foundation has an engraving workshop to promote accessible artistic creation while participating in the development of the local economy.

With two professional presses, this workshop allows:

  • to stimulate creativity, to explore the techniques of print on different media (paper, metal, wood and textile ...) but also to strengthen the synergy between art, crafts, knowledge and nature.
  • encourage artistic exchanges between creators·Rome.s Cameroonian and international, enriching the dialogue between different approaches to engraving. Trainings led by two master-grators have enabled artists and amateurs to acquire advanced expertise and, in turn, to introduce other creators to this technique.

Workshops, meetings and master class

The MAM Foundation proposes Academy, a multi-disciplinary training programme (writing, theatre, visual arts, music, design, botany, architecture...) for young people, including the 1,500 young people from the bilingual high school in Grand Suza, as well as participants·the other programmes of the Foundation.

Workshops, master classes and meetings are organized to encourage discovery, critical reflection and expression in all its forms. These activities are driven by creators·researchers·women, writers·Are, botanists... These interactive workshops provide a powerful lever for emancipation; Art and culture becoming vectors of social transformation and collective innovation.

A competition to accompany creators·The French-language school of Grand Suza (1,500 young people) is organized every two years. The winners receive artistic and educational support.

The Festival Days and Nights of Poetry

Every year, the MAM Foundation organizes the Festival Days and Nights of Poetry, a space of freedom, inspiration, transmission and commitment that celebrates literature, visual arts, poetry and music.

Writers·poets and poets, musicians·The programme provides master classes for young people whose creations are publicly restored to Grand Suza and Douala.

Art outside the walls, debates and concerts

Within and outside Fabrique, exhibitions, concerts, lectures and debates are offered, anchored in the territory and with free and free access. Through off-wall art initiatives, the MAM Foundation offers a wide audience the opportunity to discover contemporary creations.

One of the main thrusts of the work carried out by the multidisciplinary team (artists, curators of exhibitions, philosophers, economists, anthropologists...) is to link the scientific approach to the creative approach. Inspired by the exchanges with the community and the reflections carried out in the context of the counter-cartography conducted by the Laboratoire Economie du Vive, this approach promotes the creation of works rooted in the territory and its history, outside conventional spaces.
