Clean village

Integrated Management Information System

Awareness-raising and education

Creative development

Objective: Safety, waste management and environmental conservation

The programme « Grand Suza, Clean Village » is to raise awareness among the inhabitants of the Grand Suza village of the issues of safety, waste management and environmental preservation

An integrated system of sorting and selective collection of plastic and organic waste is being established in the village, supplemented by awareness-raising campaigns with the community and schools. The recovery of organic waste through composting, as well as the creative reuse of plastics and other materials through recycling initiatives, help to improve quality of life and reduce environmental impact.

01

An integrated waste management system

In partnership with a specialised company, the MAM Foundation deploys a waste management programme.

This system is based on:

  • Installation of sorting infrastructures: Three selective sorting bins are installed in the village, each dedicated to plastic and organic waste. The aim is to extend these schemes to allow for responsible and comprehensive waste management.
  • Youth mobilization: Young people from Grand Suza are actively involved in waste collection and sorting.
  • Plastic waste recovery: Collected plastic waste is purchased by a specialist company, creating opportunities for income-generating activities.
  • Organic Waste Processing: Purchase and transformation of organic waste into compost, used to enrich soil on the Foundation's organic farm.
02

Environmental awareness and education

To create a culture of recycling and sustainable development, the MAM Foundation initiates awareness campaigns among schools and local associations.

These initiatives involve the village health commission, chaired by the Founder, with the objectives of:

  • Promote the importance of sorting, recycling and composting waste.
  • Disseminating good environmental practices to the community in order to reduce the ecological footprint and encourage collective waste management for the well-being of the community.
03

Creative recovery of plastic waste

Waste recovery is an innovative dimension of the project, transforming often neglected resources into creative opportunities. Creative reuse projects for plastic waste should be developed in partnership with local companies.

For example, Senegalese designer artist Bibi Seck will host an artistic and educational residency on the theme of recycling and design.

  • During this residency, Bibi Seck will conduct workshops to transform recycled plastic into design equipment and furniture.
  • The works will then be installed in the village of Grand-Suza and at the MAM Gallery, creating economic opportunities while highlighting the creative potential of recycled materials.
